Apron Night

We will be making aprons this week!!! This will be an evening, kid free event!! I'm already loving it!!

Date: Thursday April 7th

Time: 7pm

Place: Church

Below are the aprons you can choose to make. All aprons are made with cotton or cotton/poly.

Apron #1

This lovely model is showing a half apron with a ruffle on the bottom. It can also be made into a full apron with a bib.

You will need 3 fabrics: 1/2 yd fabric for skirt

1/4 yd for the ruffle and if you want pocket

1/2 yd for the ties

If you want to add the bib, 1/2 yd

***To have the bib and skirt the same pattern, just get 1 yd. If you want different on top and bottom, then 1/2 yd each. Ruffles and ties can be the same or different pattern.

*The one in the photo also has rick rack, if you want to add that.

Apron #2

For this pretty rounded edge apron you will need 1 or 2 different fabrics. You can do the apron one pattern and the ruffle and ties another or do it all the same.

You will need: 1 yd for the body

1/2 yd for the ruffles and ties

*This one also has cute rick rack on it...

Apron #3

This cute apron has 2 different fabrics, although you could use one if you choose.

You will need: 1 yd for the body

1/2 yd for the ruffles and ties

Apron #4

Our last apron is a full apron with multiple ruffles. I will try to post more information and a picture on this soon.

Bring: sewing machine, pins, thread, scissors, rotary cutter and mat, and fabric.

Potting Party!

Here's the plan:

Where: The church

What: Plant seeds in pots

Brown bag lunch for yourself, treats to share

Time: 11am

Date: Friday April 1st

Bring: Pots for filling, gravel or rocks for the bottom of your pot

Price: $2 for potting soil and seeds. We will have flower seeds and herb seeds, if you want something specific bring it.

RSVP: Please let me know by Thursday evening if you are coming, how many and size of your pots so that we can have enough potting soil.

Bring your pots, your kids, your food and a treat to share. We will have fun in the gym and let our kids play around.

Next Week: We will be making aprons on next Thursday. You can look at the patterns on Friday and see if you are interested. More information to come.

Celebrate Banner

Just finished my banner. Wanted to give you another idea to look at. It's really very simple to make. Spent $1 on the ribbon, all else was from my scrap material. Printed letters on the computer, traced them onto a heat and bond paper and then ironed that to the fabric. Cut everything out, ironed the letters to the triangle and then stitched around everything on the machine. Just a close up to see better.
I still have loads of denim if anyone wants it. Also, I saved my letters if you want a template.

Pennant Banners

This month we will be making banners. Here is the one Joy made. She is going to add "USA" letters to it.

Date: Thursday March 24

Time: 7pm

Place: Church building

Bring: Everything, nothing will be provided. On this one, you can just run with your imagination!

Supply suggestion: scissors, rotary cutter and mat, sewing machine, thread, ribbon, fabric, pins, glue gun, buttons, etc.

Any embellishments you might want to use. You can sew or glue this project together. You can use denim, fabric, ribbon, felt, anything really. You may want to decide what size triangle(s) and how many you want to figure out how much fabric you need. Cut out a pattern and take measurements for each triangle and then multiply that by how many you will be making. You will want enough ribbon or fabric to connect them all together. Feel free to cut your triangles out ahead of time so you can just work on the "putting together".

March Project

Hey ladies~

Just thought I put up a little teaser in case any of you out there happen to check before I remind you to check...

This month we will be making denim pennant banners. You could make a it a Happy Birthday banner, a holiday banner or put one of your kids name on it and hang it in their room. Start thinking about what you might want to do. Joy brought one of these to show you at the January craft night, and had it displayed on the wall. There will be more information to come, but start saving any old denim or fabric scraps.

T-shirt pom poms

A little information...

For anyone who is planning to do the t-shirt pompoms, I thought I'd pass this along. Hodge Podge Thrift store, which is behind the Grand Theaters, has a "rag barrel" full of t-shirts for 10 cents each.

New Project!!!

Plans for February are as follows:

We will be meeting at the church the church at 7pm on Wednesday the 23rd. There are no other activities that night, no scouts, yw/ym or activity days.

Head bands

These can be found here at Paige and Brooke. And lots of other ideas for your viewing pleasure at Little Miss Momma.

For the headbands, you will need to bring fabric and thread for the one pictured above. If you have a sewing machine (although we will have a few on hand) and could bring it to share, please do so. We will provide elastic and interfacing for a $1.00, or $2.00 for interfacing, elastic and fabric. Also, I suppose we will need a few irons for the interfacing. One more note, you can use two different fabrics and make these reversible! So cute!

We will also be making t-shirt pom poms. The tutorial is found at Craftaholics Anonymous.

You will need to bring your own t-shirts, frames, and whatever else you may want to embellish these.

Be sure to check out the links above to see the tutorials and find out exactly what you will need. I will have cardboard for the tshirt poms, but be sure to bring your own scissors!

Please let us know if you can make it and if you would like to do the fabric headbands so we can plan accordingly. We would like collect any money ahead of time so we can purchase the materials. Please make payments by Sunday the 20th. Thanks!

If you just want to come hang out and not craft, or bring your own craft, we'd love your company!

A little more info...

Prices will be as follows:

Blocks:  $3 per set

Pockets:  $1 per pocket

Everything will be provided, except pockets, although there may be enough for everyone, as some people have extras.  Remember, save the rest of your denim for a future project.

We will have paints, paper, little pretties, etc.

If you have a glue gun, you may want to bring it so we are not all sharing one.  If you want to bring a snack to share, well, we all like food.

*~*~*~*~Don't forget, if you just want to come be with the ladies, you don't have to craft!!!

I need a number!!

Ok, ladies, here's the deal:

I can't tell you a cost for the blocks or pockets at this point.  It will depend on how many people want to participate.  So, without knowing the cost, but knowing that it wont expensive (look who's planning it... have you ever known me not to be cheap???)  I need to know who wants to make the blocks and the pockets.  

Keep in mind that I will not be able to provide pockets for everyone, but if we all can bring as many as we can and share our extras, that would be great!

Please leave a comment of how many block sets and how many pockets you would like to have.  Or you can email me.  Please let me know by Sunday!!

Also, please tell others about the craft group.  The more the merrier!!

January Craft Night

We're back!!  Lots of info to follow, so pay attention.

We will be meeting on Thursday January 27, at the church, at 8:30 pm.  Just ladies, no little ones.

We will have 2 projects to work on.  

#1  LOVE blocks.  These will be 2x2 blocks of wood.  We will paint them, then glue scrap paper with the letters printed on them.  You can sand, stain, mod podge them to your hearts desire.  If you want additional embellishments, you could do that as well.  

#2  Pockets of love.  These will be sweet little valentine jean pockets with a rick rack hanger.  They can be dressed in many ways.  They will be adorable to hang on a door knob and put a valentine or sweet treat in for a loved one.   Start collecting your old jeans!!

Even if you don't want to participate, please consider saving old jeans for others.  We will need them for this project as well as another in a few months.  Thanks!!

More information regarding price and supplies will be coming, but we wanted to get the date out to you and let you start thinking about if you want to participate.

BTW these pictures are just for the idea, not exactly what we will be making.  We will have them a valentine theme.  Thanks!

Noel Blocks

This is a picture of the signs we made last week. If any of you are still interested in using the stencil, let me know. The stencil use is $4 or less, depending on how many people want to use it, and the board is $3. You use your own paints. I think they turned out beautifully!!

This week:

Noel blocks- I have no pictures of these, but they will be cute!

These are blocks of wood of different sizes, one for each letter. We will decorate the blocks with paint, scrap paper, and then stencil a letter on each block. You can also turn it around and do "snow" on the other side and use it after the holidays.
Bring with you:
*paint and brushes
*sand paper
*scrap paper
*mod podge and brush

Wood will be provided for free.

Black Friday Craft Night

Date: Black Friday
Time: 7:30pm or after
Place: Steph Southam's

What:**We have a stencil, here http://www.thestencilsmith.com/. Search for "magic of Christmas" and it is the first one w/o a picture. We have the largest size. We will be stenciling it onto mdf boards, and then you can add to it as you wish.
The plan is to distribute the boards before TG. Then we can each paint them the color we want and bring them to stencil that night. We will have some colors to share for stenciling, but if you want a specific color, bring it with you.
Price: the stencil was $22. We will divide that by how many people want to use it. We do not have a price for the wood yet. Now that you have the info, please let me know how many you would like to make, by MONDAY. Call or email.

**Another idea is an advent calendar. It is made with a 24 cup muffin tin. If you want to make this, you will need to bring the muffin tin. I will get more info on this if you are interested.

**Finally, here are some cute things to do with blocks of wood: http://www.howdoesshe.com/10-things-to-do-with-a-block-10-ornament. You would need to bring what you need, like paint, scrap paper, markers, etc. We will try to have blocks of wood, but will need some idea of what we need. If you had blocks of wood to share, that would be great, too.

Cards and Tags

Our first craft night!! So exciting!

This is the beginning, hopefully!!, of a new crafty group of ladies! We plan to meet weekly between now and Christmas, and then less often when the new year starts. We have lots of great ideas (not mine)! We'd love to see you, even if you are not crafty or if you just want to hang out while others craft. We'd love your help in spreading the word, so invite your friends!
